Karachi authorities launch crackdown on illegal cattle markets

KARACHI: Karachi authorities have intensified their efforts to shut down illegal cattle markets across the city in preparation for Eidul-Adha. This crackdown was initiated by Sachal Police in the Safoora Chowrangi area and its neighboring regions, following the imposition of Section 144 in the city.

During the operation, several unauthorized cattle sheds were dismantled, and numerous animals were seized. At least 10 individuals were arrested for violating the ban, which has been strictly enforced by law enforcement agencies. Authorities have been given clear instructions to take strong action against any illegal cattle markets across the city.

The Commissioner of Karachi had earlier imposed Section 144 on May 9, which prohibits the sale and purchase of animals along roadsides and in non-designated areas for one month. According to this directive, cattle markets are only permitted at 14 designated locations throughout Karachi's seven districts. Any markets operating outside these approved areas will face legal consequences. The ongoing action aims to maintain order and ensure that cattle trading occurs only in authorized zones.
