KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has responded to a recent press conference by Federal Minister Mustafa Kamal, rejecting renewed allegations against the party’s founder and reiterating MQM-P’s long-stated position on its past.
Speaking on the matter, Khalid Maqbool said the party had already presented a clear and comprehensive narrative on August 23, 2016. He recalled that MQM-P had formally announced all decisions would be made within Pakistan and that the party had completely severed ties with MQM-London, a position he said remains unchanged.
“This is our complete and final narrative,” he stated, adding that MQM-P had already addressed questions surrounding its leadership structure and historical controversies. According to him, there was no need to revisit settled matters.
His comments came after Mustafa Kamal once again leveled serious accusations against the MQM founder, including allegations linked to the 2010 killing of senior MQM leader Dr Imran Farooq in London. Kamal claimed the murder was ordered by the founder and accused him of staging events after the killing.
Kamal also repeated claims of illicit foreign funding, misuse of power, and responsibility for violence, enforced disappearances, and political unrest in Karachi. He called for legal action against those he said were involved in Dr Imran Farooq’s murder.
