His remarks came during the visit of Jordan’s King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein to the Tilla Field Firing Ranges near Jhelum, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
King Abdullah II arrived in Pakistan on Saturday for a two-day official visit, accompanied by Princess Salma bint Abdullah II and a high-level civil and military delegation. He was received by Field Marshal Munir and other senior officials.
As part of his engagements, the Jordanian monarch visited Global Industrial and Defence Solutions (GIDS), Pakistan’s state-owned defence conglomerate specialising in military, industrial and technological products. According to the ISPR, King Abdullah was given a detailed briefing on the organisation’s structure, capabilities, and product suite. The presentation highlighted Pakistan’s advancements in indigenous defence production, innovations in military technology, and prospective areas for enhanced bilateral defence collaboration.
Later in the day, King Abdullah travelled to the Tilla Field Firing Ranges, where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif joined him to observe a joint fire and manoeuvre exercise. Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defence Industry, Vugar Valeh oglu Mustafayev, was also present among the distinguished guests.
The exercise showcased multi-domain operational capabilities, featuring coordinated ground manoeuvres, combined air and conventional firepower, electronic and spectrum warfare techniques, and the deployment of multi-purpose drones configured for various battlefield roles. According to the ISPR, King Abdullah II praised the professionalism, training standards, and operational readiness displayed by the participating troops and aircrews.
Prime Minister Shehbaz, while speaking at the event, conveyed Pakistan’s deep respect for King Abdullah II and the Jordanian people. He emphasised that the monarch’s visit reflected a longstanding friendship rooted in mutual trust, shared values, and a common pursuit of regional peace and development.
Earlier, King Abdullah II conferred upon Field Marshal Munir the Order of the Military Merit of First Degree, acknowledging his “outstanding service and significant contributions” to strengthening defence cooperation between the two nations.
The ISPR noted that the visit marks an important milestone in reinforcing the historic bonds of brotherhood between Pakistan and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
