ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Tuesday strongly condemned the missile and drone attacks carried out by Iran on energy facilities in Saudi Arabia, calling the strikes a serious threat to regional peace and stability.
In an official statement, the Foreign Office of Pakistan said the attacks targeted energy facilities in the eastern region of Saudi Arabia and resulted in loss of life and major damage to critical infrastructure. Pakistan expressed deep concern over the incident and extended condolences to the families of those killed.
The Foreign Office said Pakistan stands firmly with the government and people of Saudi Arabia during this difficult period. Islamabad described the attacks as a clear violation of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, warning that such actions could further increase tensions across the Middle East.
Pakistan also reaffirmed its support for the Kingdom’s security and stressed the need for immediate de-escalation. The statement said regional stability can only be protected through dialogue and restraint rather than military escalation. Officials warned that continued attacks on Saudi energy infrastructure could have serious consequences for global oil markets and international shipping routes.
Meanwhile, Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Reza Amiri Moghadam, said Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to end the conflict have reached a “critical” stage. In a message posted on X, he praised Pakistan’s role in promoting peace and said more developments could be expected soon.
The ambassador’s remarks came shortly before a deadline issued by Donald Trump demanding that Iran reopen the Strait of Hormuz to global shipping or risk possible attacks on major infrastructure. The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important oil transit routes, and any disruption there could sharply affect global fuel prices.
