ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Saturday strongly denounced the “unwarranted attacks” on Iran, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in an official statement.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar received a telephone call from Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi. The two leaders reviewed the rapidly evolving situation in Iran and the broader Middle East region.

During the discussion, Ishaq Dar condemned the attacks on Iran and stressed the need for an immediate halt to further escalation. He underscored the importance of restoring diplomatic engagement to secure a peaceful and negotiated settlement to the crisis.

The development comes after the United States and Israel launched major military strikes on Iran, prompting Tehran to retaliate with ballistic missile attacks targeting key Israeli cities.

Travel advisory issued for Pakistani nationals

In view of the deteriorating security situation, Pakistan has advised its citizens to avoid non-essential travel to Iran following the recent Israeli missile strikes.

A spokesperson for the Foreign Office urged Pakistani nationals currently residing in Iran to exercise caution, remain vigilant, limit unnecessary movement, and maintain close contact with Pakistani diplomatic missions.

UK warns against wider regional conflict

Meanwhile, the Government of the United Kingdom expressed concern that the ongoing military confrontation involving the United States, Israel, and Iran could expand into a broader Middle East conflict.

“We do not want to see further escalation into a wider regional conflict,” a UK government spokesperson said, adding that London’s immediate priority is ensuring the safety of its citizens in the region.

The spokesperson noted that Britain maintains defensive capabilities in the region, which have recently been reinforced, and stands ready to safeguard its interests.

However, a government source clarified that the UK was not involved in the US-Israeli strikes carried out on Saturday.
