The Pakistan Navy on Tuesday successfully tested an indigenously developed ship-launched anti-ship ballistic missile, the military’s media wing confirmed. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the weapon system can strike both sea-based and land-based targets with “high precision,” marking a significant advancement in Pakistan’s naval strike capabilities.

In its statement, the ISPR highlighted that the missile incorporates state-of-the-art guidance technology along with advanced manoeuvrability features, enabling it to operate effectively in complex threat environments. The test was observed by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, along with senior scientists, engineers, and officials involved in the project.

Calling the launch a demonstration of Pakistan’s growing defence expertise, the ISPR said the successful test “is a testimony to Pakistan’s technological prowess and Pakistan Navy’s unwavering commitment to safeguard national interests.” The achievement reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen naval deterrence in response to evolving regional security challenges.

President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Shamshad Mirza, and the service chiefs congratulated the Navy, scientists, and engineers associated with the project.

Tuesday’s test follows a similar milestone earlier this year. On September 30, the Pakistan Army conducted a successful training launch of the indigenously developed Fatah-4 cruise missile, which has a range of 750 kilometres. Equipped with advanced avionics and terrain-hugging capabilities, the Fatah-4 is designed to evade enemy missile defence systems and deliver highly accurate strikes.

The back-to-back testing of advanced missile systems reflects Pakistan’s continued focus on strengthening its strategic and conventional capabilities through indigenous technological development.
