ISLAMABAD – In response to recent escalations with India, Pakistan has launched a high-level diplomatic offensive by dispatching two delegations abroad to present its official stance and challenge what it calls "false allegations" used by India to justify military aggression.
The Foreign Office confirmed on Monday that a senior delegation has already arrived in New York to spearhead a diplomatic campaign across key international capitals, including Washington DC, London, and Brussels. A separate mission will visit Moscow from June 2 to 4.
The first delegation includes prominent political and diplomatic figures such as Pakistan Peoples Party Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, former foreign ministers Hina Rabbani Khar and Khurram Dastgir, and Senators Sherry Rehman, Musadik Malik, Faisal Sabzwari, and Bushra Anjum Butt. Seasoned diplomats Jalil Abbas Jilani and Tehmina Janjua are also part of the team.
Their engagements begin in the United States on June 3, with scheduled meetings with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, the President of the UN General Assembly, ambassadors from the five permanent UN Security Council members, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) representatives, and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The group will also hold talks with lawmakers, think tanks, and major media outlets.
A second delegation, headed by seasoned diplomat Syed Tariq Fatemi, is set to hold consultations in Moscow to garner support and understanding from Russian officials and policy influencers.
The Foreign Office described the initiative as a peaceful, proactive step to counter India’s narrative and reaffirm Pakistan’s dedication to international law, diplomacy, and regional peace. “Pakistan is not escalating the situation—it is responding with maturity and facts,” the statement read.
Speaking from New York, Senator Sherry Rehman strongly condemned India’s rhetoric, stating, “Using false allegations to justify military aggression is not only irresponsible—it’s unacceptable.” She reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to expose India’s misinformation and promote dialogue as the path to stability.
“Pakistan is countering India’s false narrative at the United Nations, presenting a principled and peaceful stance grounded in diplomacy and international norms,” Rehman added.
The diplomatic outreach comes amid growing international concern over rising tensions in South Asia. Islamabad hopes that through this campaign, it can engage global powers and institutions to ensure a balanced understanding of the situation and prevent further escalation.
Observers view this move as a calculated attempt by Pakistan to secure international support and urge restraint while keeping focus on regional stability through diplomacy.
