ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO) has sharply criticized India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for allegedly misrepresenting comments made by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir during his recent visit to the United States.

In a statement issued Monday, the FO labeled the Indian response as “immature” and accused New Delhi of habitually distorting facts to fit its narrative. The remarks in question were made during Field Marshal Munir’s second visit to the U.S. within two months, where he engaged with American political and military leadership and attended a CENTCOM change of command ceremony in Tampa, Florida. A key public event was a black-tie dinner hosted by Pakistan’s honorary consul, which saw participation from prominent figures including Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Ambassador Rizwan Shaikh.

India’s MEA had accused Munir of “nuclear sabre-rattling,” suggesting that such rhetoric reflects poorly on Pakistan’s nuclear command and control. It further condemned the remarks being made “from the soil of a friendly third country,” alleging Pakistan uses nuclear threats and supports terrorist groups.

In response, Pakistan's FO firmly rejected these claims, branding them as baseless and politically motivated. The FO reaffirmed Pakistan’s responsible nuclear policy, emphasizing its commitment to peace and civilian control of its strategic assets. It accused India of aggression and warmongering, warning that any future provocation would receive a strong and immediate response. The FO held Indian leadership responsible for escalating regional tensions.
