RAWALPINDI: Pakistan on Monday conducted a successful trial of the Fatah missile, which has a range of 120 kilometres, marking the second successful missile test in recent days amid rising regional tensions.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the missile trial was carried out as part of the ongoing Indus exercises aimed at evaluating the state of operational preparedness. The exercise is designed to test key technical parameters and demonstrate the readiness of Pakistan’s strategic forces in the face of evolving threats.
Last week, Pakistan had successfully tested the Abdali Weapon System, a surface-to-surface missile with a range of 450 kilometres. The ISPR stated that the Abdali trial was part of the same Indus series and focused on validating its advanced navigation system and enhanced manoeuvrability. Both tests underline Pakistan's continued efforts to strengthen its deterrence capabilities.
Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir congratulated the team of army officers, scientists, and engineers involved in the successful execution of the trial. The leadership emphasized their confidence in the technical expertise and preparedness of Pakistan’s strategic forces.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and the Services Chiefs also extended their felicitations, reaffirming their full confidence in the capabilities of the strategic command and support staff.
On Friday, General Munir presided over a special Corps Commanders’ Conference at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi. The forum undertook a detailed review of the prevailing geo-strategic landscape, with a specific focus on the ongoing Pakistan-India standoff and regional security developments.
The commanders expressed grave concern over escalating Indian aggression in occupied Kashmir, especially following the recent Pahalgam incident. The meeting also highlighted continued ceasefire violations and civilian targeting along the Line of Control (LoC) by Indian forces.
The forum reiterated the unwavering resolve of Pakistan’s armed forces to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity against any threat. General Munir stressed the need for heightened vigilance, unity, and proactive preparedness on all fronts.
