ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Turkiye have jointly called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and emphasized the urgent need for unrestricted humanitarian aid to reach the besieged population. This stance was reaffirmed during a telephone conversation between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Monday.
Both leaders strongly condemned Israel’s continued military aggression in Gaza, expressing deep concern over the worsening humanitarian crisis. They highlighted the alarming levels of starvation, forced displacement, and civilian casualties, particularly among women and children.
The two foreign ministers reiterated their countries’ unwavering support for the Palestinian people and their legitimate struggle. They expressed hope that the ongoing international conference on the implementation of the two-state solution, convening at the United Nations, would lead to concrete progress toward lasting peace.
In a recent interview, Senator Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s consistent position in support of Palestinian self-determination. He reiterated the country's firm backing for the creation of an independent and contiguous Palestinian state, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, based on the pre-1967 borders.
Dar also confirmed Pakistan’s full support for the upcoming landmark conference co-hosted by France and Saudi Arabia from July 28 to 30 at the UN Headquarters in New York. The conference aims to pave the way for a peaceful resolution and address the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
Both nations stressed the need for collective international efforts to halt the violence and ensure long-term peace in the region.
