ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Passport Department has launched a new 24/7 digital monitoring system to oversee passport applications, printing, and overall operational performance, officials announced on Monday. The initiative, directed by Director General Mustafa Jamal Qazi, includes a dedicated monitoring room at the department’s headquarters in Islamabad.

The system is powered by an integrated digital dashboard that allows real-time tracking of daily operations across Pakistan and at overseas passport offices. It provides end-to-end supervision of the passport process, from application submission to final delivery, aiming to enhance transparency, efficiency, and service quality.

The monitoring framework can detect overcrowding at passport offices, enabling prompt administrative responses, while staff performance, printing operations, backlogs, and machinery status are tracked via the Network Management System.

Qazi stated that the system will significantly improve departmental performance, allowing centralized monitoring of citizen turnout and staff efficiency. A mechanism has also been introduced to ensure immediate resolution of issues as they arise.
