ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) to take immediate and practical steps to promote tourism across the country, highlighting Pakistan’s natural beauty and resources as key assets for attracting visitors.
Chairing a high-level meeting on tourism development on Monday, the prime minister emphasized the need for strong collaboration between the public and private sectors to facilitate international tourists and enhance Pakistan’s appeal as a global travel destination.
He also urged focused efforts to boost domestic tourism, encouraging Pakistanis to explore the country's scenic and cultural heritage.
“There is vast potential to earn foreign exchange through tourism,” Shehbaz said, stressing the importance of strategic planning to attract long-term investment in the sector.
“Almighty has blessed Pakistan with abundant natural resources and timeless beauty,” he noted. “With snow-capped mountains, lush forests, rivers, plains, deserts, and breathtaking northern areas, Pakistan is in no way behind any other country in tourism potential.”
The prime minister called for targeted initiatives to improve infrastructure, tourist safety, and hospitality services, aiming to position tourism as a key contributor to the national economy.
