ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday inaugurated Pakistan Television Digital’s English-language channel, describing it as a significant initiative to project Pakistan’s perspective more effectively at the international level.
During his visit, the Prime Minister was accompanied by Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Information Secretary Ambreen Jan, and senior officials. He toured different sections of the newly established channel, interacted with its young professionals, and lauded their dedication and energy.
Shehbaz Sharif underscored the importance of the new platform in countering disinformation and external propaganda. He said the English channel would serve as a reliable source of news, presenting Pakistan’s stance with authenticity and clarity to a global audience. The Prime Minister also recorded his first interview, which will be aired on the channel.
Briefing the premier, Minister Attaullah Tarar explained that Pakistan TV Digital is designed to function as a credible and forward-looking voice of the nation in English. He noted that the channel will help bridge communication gaps, strengthen Pakistan’s public diplomacy, and challenge skewed narratives often seen in Western and Indian media.
Officials said the initiative marks an important step toward reshaping Pakistan’s media outreach in the digital era.
