ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed on Wednesday for Saudi Arabia as part of a three-nation official visit scheduled from April 15 to April 18, 2026, amid rising tensions in the Middle East. The visit underscores Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to strengthen regional ties and promote peace during a critical time.
The prime minister is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant Syed Tariq Fatemi. During his stay in Saudi Arabia, Shehbaz Sharif is expected to hold key meetings with the Saudi leadership to discuss bilateral cooperation, economic partnerships, and regional security issues.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the premier will also visit Qatar and Turkey as part of the same diplomatic tour. In Turkey, he will attend the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, where global leaders will gather to discuss pressing international challenges.
Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to participate in the Leaders’ Panel at the forum, presenting Pakistan’s stance on regional peace, economic cooperation, and global stability. On the sidelines of the event, he is expected to meet Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan along with other world leaders to further enhance diplomatic engagements.
The visit also comes shortly after Saudi Arabia pledged significant financial support to Pakistan. Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb recently announced that Saudi Arabia has committed an additional $3 billion in deposits to Pakistan, expected to be disbursed soon. Additionally, the existing $5 billion Saudi deposit will be extended for a longer period, providing economic relief and strengthening Pakistan’s financial stability.
This multi-nation visit highlights Pakistan’s proactive diplomatic approach aimed at reinforcing strategic partnerships, boosting economic cooperation, and contributing to peace efforts in the Middle East and beyond.
