NEW YORK: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will lead Pakistan’s delegation to the high-level segment of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), beginning in New York on Monday. He will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, cabinet members, and senior officials.
In his address to the General Assembly, the Prime Minister is expected to draw global attention to the situations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Palestine, stressing the denial of the right to self-determination and the need to end prolonged occupation. He will particularly highlight the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and urge decisive international action to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians.
The Prime Minister will also present Pakistan’s perspective on regional security, climate change, terrorism, Islamophobia, and sustainable development, emphasizing the country’s commitment to global peace and cooperation.
On the sidelines of the UNGA session, Shehbaz Sharif will attend high-level meetings, including those of the UN Security Council, the Global Development Initiative, and a Special High-Level Event on Climate Action. He will also join a meeting of selected Islamic leaders with U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss regional and international peace and security.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will hold bilateral meetings with several world leaders and senior UN officials to exchange views on issues of mutual interest.
