KARACHI: The Sindh government has officially announced summer vacations for all public and private schools and colleges across the province, effective from June 1 to July 31, 2025. A notification from the Sindh Education Department confirmed that the summer break would apply to all educational institutions under its jurisdiction.
The decision comes amid soaring temperatures and growing concerns about student health during the ongoing heatwave. The notification aims to ensure student safety and minimize heat-related risks.
The announcement aligns Sindh with other provinces that have recently declared their respective vacation schedules. A day earlier, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) also issued its summer vacation timetable. According to the K-P Education Department, primary schools in summer zones (plains) will close from June 1 to August 31, while middle, high, and higher secondary schools will observe holidays from June 15 to August 31.
In contrast, schools in winter zones of K-P will have a shorter break, from July 1 to July 31. These timings apply to both government and private institutions operating in the designated zones.
Meanwhile, Punjab was the first province to announce an early summer break due to an intense heatwave. Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat stated that schools would be closed starting May 28, prioritizing the health and safety of students across the region.
With all major provinces now releasing their summer vacation plans, educational institutions nationwide are preparing to suspend classes during the hottest months of the year. The consistent decision-making reflects a coordinated effort to safeguard children and staff from extreme weather conditions.
Parents and school administrations are advised to stay updated with official announcements and ensure compliance with the notified schedules.
