RAWALPINDI: An Anti-Corruption Court in Rawalpindi has issued bailable arrest warrants for a former federal minister in a land acquisition case. The special judge ordered the individual’s arrest and directed authorities to present him before the court by June 30.
The case, registered by the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE), involves allegations of illegal land acquisition for a private housing society in Jhelum’s Dina area along GT Road. According to the FIR filed in April, the former minister is accused of abusing authority to facilitate the transfer of public land for the housing project.
This former leader had parted ways with his political party in May 2023 following directives from the party’s founder. The founder recently met with key party members in jail, discussing the political situation and issuing directives on future party affairs. One important decision was to officially sever ties with the former minister, who had been actively involved in representing the party’s viewpoint.
The party’s public disassociation has cast doubt on the politician’s future amid ongoing legal challenges related to misuse of authority and corruption allegations.
