ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet on Tuesday approved the promotion of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir to the rank of Field Marshal. The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

In a statement, he dedicated the honor to the nation, the armed forces, and especially to the martyrs and veterans, both civilian and military. He emphasized that this recognition is not for an individual, but a tribute to the sacrifices and commitment of the Pakistan Armed Forces and the people of Pakistan.

“I am thankful to the President, the Prime Minister, and the Cabinet for their trust,” he stated, adding that the title is a responsibility entrusted to him by the nation. He pledged that “millions of Asims are ready to sacrifice to uphold this trust.”

The promotion marks a historic moment, as Field Marshal is the highest possible rank in the Pakistan Army, symbolizing supreme military leadership and national trust.
