ISLAMABAD: The federal government is actively preparing a comprehensive revival strategy for Pakistan’s cinema and film industry, with a formal briefing to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif anticipated shortly.
This development emerged during the second high-level meeting focused on rejuvenating the country’s struggling cinema sector, chaired by Huzaifa Rehman, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) and Minister of State for the National Heritage & Culture Division (NH&CD). The meeting was convened under the direct instructions of the prime minister.
The session was attended by notable figures including singer and actor Ali Zafar, film director Satish Anand, Secretary Information, Secretary NH&CD, representatives from private film companies, and senior stakeholders from the creative and cultural industries.
Discussions centered on actionable strategies to revive cinema, institutional reforms, and the provision of long-term support to ensure sustainable growth for Pakistan’s film industry.
SAPM Huzaifa Rehman assured the attendees that a detailed roadmap will soon be submitted to the prime minister, followed by a comprehensive presentation involving all key stakeholders to chart a progressive future for the sector.
