Veteran actress Hema Malini has opened up about coping with life after the passing of her husband, legendary actor Dharmendra, calling the loss “heartbreaking” and deeply emotional.
Dharmendra passed away on November 24, 2025. In a recent interview, Hema Malini described the period following his death as an “inconsolable shock” for herself and the entire family. She recalled that the family had been hopeful for his recovery, as he had bounced back from illnesses before, and his cheerful hospital appearances had given them optimism.
However, fate intervened, and the family’s hope turned into grief. Hema Malini described the month of his death as “terrible,” emphasizing that she and their children—Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Esha Deol, and Ahana Deol—remained by his side throughout his illness.
She shared that preparations for Dharmendra’s 90th birthday on December 8, 2025, were underway when the tragedy struck, adding that even small daily moments now remind her of him, from his favorite meals to simple family routines.
Hema Malini said the family intends to cherish his memory forever and plans to gradually return to work, something she believes would have brought him joy.
