KARACHI: A six-year-old boy who went missing from Karachi’s Napier area was allegedly subjected to child sexual assault before being murdered, police said on Wednesday.
The tragic Karachi boy murder has prompted an ongoing investigation, with a neighbour arrested while authorities await the post-mortem report to determine the exact cause of death.
According to Karachi police, the victim, Muhammad Wali, disappeared from outside his home on Monday evening. His family searched the neighbourhood for several hours before registering a kidnapping case at Napier Police Station after failing to locate him.
Police later recovered the child’s body from Punjabi Gali in the Napier child case, where it had been concealed inside a sack. Investigators said the body bore visible signs of torture and was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for a post-mortem examination. Officials stated that the medical report would confirm the precise cause of death and provide forensic evidence to assist the investigation.
During the probe, police arrested a suspect identified as Hamza, who is reportedly a neighbour of the victim. According to investigators, local residents detained the suspect before handing him over to law enforcement authorities. Police said legal proceedings have been initiated, and further investigations are underway to establish all circumstances surrounding the incident.
The victim’s family has appealed to senior government officials to ensure a transparent investigation and swift justice. Relatives claimed they searched for the child for nearly two days before his body was found.
The boy’s mother alleged that her son's body had been stuffed into a sack and thrown from a three-storey building. She also claimed the crime took place inside the suspect’s residence, alleging that the neighbour refused to allow family members inside while they searched for the missing child and pretended to help in the search.
The victim’s father, a rickshaw driver, said Muhammad Wali was his only son and the youngest of his five children, including four daughters. He urged authorities to ensure the accused is brought to justice.
Police said forensic findings and witness statements will play a crucial role in the Karachi boy murder investigation. Authorities have assured the family that all legal procedures will be followed, while the post-mortem report is expected to provide key evidence in the Napier child case.
