KARACHI: Karachi is expected to receive its first monsoon rainfall of the season over the coming weekend, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). The city is currently experiencing hot and humid weather, which is forecast to continue throughout the week.
However, weather experts predict that the weather will shift by Friday, with chances of rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms in several areas of Sindh, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur, and surrounding districts.
The PMD has forecast partly cloudy weather for Friday, while scattered rain and thunderstorms are likely in Thar Parkar, Mirpur Khas, Umarkot, Khairpur, Dadu, Nawabshah, Tando Allahyar, and other regions from June 25 to 28 as part of the province’s first monsoon spell.
The Met Office has also issued a warning about potential urban flooding in low-lying areas of Karachi and Hyderabad on Friday, June 27, due to heavy rain.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated with official weather advisories during the monsoon activity.
