KARACHI: A new route for Karachi’s women-only Pink Bus Service has been announced, connecting Abdullah Chowk to Numaish, starting November 17, 2025. The service will operate at three dedicated times—8am to 9am, 1pm to 2pm, and 5pm to 7pm—aimed at providing a safer and more convenient commuting option for women.

Provincial Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon shared the details on Saturday, emphasizing that the Pink Bus is designed exclusively for women, with a focus on comfort and safety. “This service will help reduce the difficulties women face during daily travel in a large city like Karachi,” he said.

The buses will be equipped with security and tracking systems, and staffed by trained personnel. Memon also indicated that the Sindh Government plans to expand the Pink Bus Service to additional routes in the future. He stressed that the initiative aligns with the government’s broader goal of offering women reliable transport options, enabling them to pursue education and careers more freely. “This is a meaningful move towards a safe urban environment for women, and the Sindh Government will continue taking measures to provide such facilities in the future,” he added.

The Pink Bus Service has been well-received since its inception. Early last year, 18 new buses were added to the fleet, quickly becoming popular among female commuters. The fare for the service is Rs50, with girls under five travelling free, providing an affordable and practical option for daily commuting.

In addition to the Pink Bus Service, the government has announced that the second phase of the Pink Scooty Scheme will begin soon, further supporting women’s mobility and independence across Karachi. Both initiatives reflect ongoing efforts by the Sindh Government to create a safer, more inclusive urban environment for women.

The new route and timetable are expected to enhance accessibility for working women, students, and other commuters, making the Pink Bus Service an integral part of Karachi’s public transport network for women.
