KARACHI: Residents of Karachi woke up to light rain and patches of drizzle early Tuesday morning, offering brief relief from the city’s lingering humidity. Showers were reported in II Chundrigar Road, Saddar, Garden, and nearby areas as office-goers and commuters set out for the day.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the rainfall was caused by moist winds and sea clouds drifting in from the Arabian Sea. The forecast for the next 24 hours predicts partly cloudy skies, persistently humid conditions, and chances of further drizzle or light showers in some localities.

The minimum temperature on Tuesday morning was recorded at 26°C, while daytime highs are expected to remain between 30°C and 32°C. Humidity stood at 92 percent, with sea breezes blowing at around 11 kilometres per hour, the Met Office said.

This light spell follows last week’s heavy rains that battered Karachi for four consecutive days from September 8 to 10. Torrential downpours caused rivers to overflow, low-lying areas to flood, and hundreds of residents to be displaced. In Gadap, floodwaters led to multiple casualties, while rescue teams continue operations to assist missing persons and affected families.
