OGRA Cuts Petrol Price by Rs3.63 Per Litre
ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has reduced the petrol price by Rs3.63 per litre while increasing the diesel price by 31 paisa per litre, according to a notification issued on October 15.

Under the revised prices, petrol will now be available at Rs390.23 per litre, down from its previous rate. Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been increased to Rs396.96 per litre.

The new petroleum prices will take effect from October 16, providing some relief to petrol consumers while diesel users will face a slight increase in fuel costs.

The latest adjustment comes amid continued changes in domestic petroleum prices, which directly affect transportation expenses, household budgets and the cost of goods across the country.

Petrol is widely used by motorcyclists, private vehicle owners and public transport operators, while diesel is a major fuel for heavy transport, agricultural machinery and commercial vehicles. Changes in diesel prices can influence freight charges and the prices of essential commodities.

Meanwhile, eligible citizens can benefit from the government’s Petrol Relief Scheme, which provides subsidised petrol to motorcycle and Cingchi rickshaw owners, as well as owners of vehicles with engines up to 800cc.

Under the scheme, motorcycle and Cingchi rickshaw owners can receive a discount of Rs100 per litre on up to 20 litres of petrol per month. Owners of vehicles with engine capacities of up to 800cc are eligible for discounted petrol of up to 30 litres monthly.

To register, applicants must send an SMS to 9771 containing the word REG, their Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) number, vehicle registration number, the first word of their province’s name and the vehicle registration date.

After successful registration, applicants will receive a confirmation message on their mobile phones.

To obtain discounted petrol, registered users must send TOK to 9771 before visiting a petrol station. They will receive a token number via SMS, which must be presented at the fuel station to claim the discount.

A confirmation message will be issued once the transaction is completed.

Consumers are advised to check their eligibility and complete the registration process to benefit from the available petrol subsidy.

The revised fuel rates will remain applicable from October 16, in accordance with the official notification.
