KARACHI: Pakistan’s automobile industry recorded strong growth during the first 11 months of FY2025-26, with total vehicle sales increasing by 45 percent compared to the same period last year, reflecting renewed consumer confidence and improving market conditions.

According to data released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA), total vehicle sales reached 183,704 units during July-May FY2025-26. The impressive rise highlights the ongoing recovery of Pakistan’s auto industry and growing demand across different vehicle categories.

Passenger car sales also showed positive momentum. During May 2026, car sales reached 17,660 units, registering a 19 percent increase on a year-on-year basis. Industry experts believe this growth was supported by improved financing options, relatively stable economic conditions, and increased purchasing activity.

However, despite annual gains, vehicle sales recorded a 20 percent decline on a month-on-month basis. Analysts linked the temporary slowdown to reduced commercial activity and lower consumer spending during the Eid holidays, which affected showroom traffic and vehicle deliveries.

The motorcycle and three-wheeler segment continued to remain a major contributor to Pakistan’s transport market. Sales in this category stood at 172,433 units during May. Although this reflected a 13 percent annual decline and a 10 percent decrease compared to April, cumulative sales during the first 11 months reached nearly 1.8 million units, representing a strong 30 percent year-on-year increase.

Among leading automobile manufacturers, Pak Suzuki Motor Company delivered the strongest performance. The company recorded a remarkable 75 percent annual growth, selling 8,856 units during May and maintaining its position as a dominant player in Pakistan’s automotive sector.

Honda Atlas Cars Pakistan also posted positive results with sales reaching 2,230 units, showing an 11 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Nishat Motor faced challenges as sales dropped by 31 percent, with only 902 units sold during the month.

Industry observers believe the recovery in Pakistan’s automobile sector reflects improving economic sentiment and stronger consumer demand. Despite short-term seasonal fluctuations, the sector’s overall performance signals continued growth potential for the country’s vehicle market.
