KARACHI: The Sindh Education Department’s Steering Committee has officially released the winter vacation schedule for all public and private schools and colleges across the province.
According to the announcement made on Thursday, educational institutions in Sindh will remain closed from December 22 to December 31, 2025. Classes are set to resume on January 1, 2026, marking the end of the short but much-anticipated winter break.
A spokesperson for the department confirmed that while regular academic activities will pause during this period, supplementary examinations administered by various education boards will proceed as planned. Students appearing in these exams have been advised to follow their previously issued schedules, as no changes have been made due to the holidays.
The announcement comes at a time when winter breaks across provinces are being finalized. Earlier, the Punjab School Education Department also issued its own vacation schedule following instructions from Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat. Schools in Punjab will observe a longer winter break, beginning on December 22, 2025, and extending until January 10, 2026. Academic activities there will resume on January 12, 2026.
Punjab’s education authorities stated that their schedule was prepared after careful consideration of weather forecasts and the needs of students and parents. With colder weather expected in the region, officials emphasized that the extended break aims to ensure student well-being and provide relief from harsh seasonal conditions.
In contrast, Sindh has opted for a shorter winter vacation, keeping in mind regional weather patterns that differ from those in Punjab. The Sindh Education Department assured parents that the schedule strikes a balance between academic continuity and necessary respite for students.
School administrations across Sindh have been instructed to communicate the holiday schedule promptly to parents and ensure a smooth transition when classes resume in the new year. Institutions have also been advised to complete any pending academic tasks and prepare for the reopening to avoid disruptions in the academic calendar.
With winter vacations now officially confirmed in both Sindh and Punjab, families can begin planning seasonal activities, while students look forward to a well-deserved break. The timely release of schedules has helped avoid confusion, ensuring that educational institutions and households alike can prepare efficiently for the holiday period.
