ISLAMABAD: A district and sessions court in Islamabad on Wednesday sent Umar Hayat, the prime suspect in the murder of 17-year-old social media influencer Sana Yousaf, to jail on a 14-day judicial remand for an identity parade.

Hayat, 22, also a TikToker known as "Kaka," was arrested in Faisalabad following the shooting of Yousaf at her home in Sector G-13/1 on Monday evening. Sana, who had over a million followers, was shot twice inside her residence. Islamabad Police quickly traced and apprehended the suspect within 20 hours using CCTV footage and mobile data.

Reports suggest that the murder was the result of repeated rejections, as Hayat had persistently tried to contact Sana. At the time of the incident, her father was away for work, her mother was out shopping, and her younger brother was visiting their hometown. Sana’s aunt, who was present during the shooting, recalled overhearing Sana warn the suspect about security cameras before he shot her.

During the court proceedings, the magistrate expressed frustration over the absence of prosecutors, emphasizing the high-profile nature of the case. The court approved the request for an identity parade and placed Hayat in judicial custody
