Former renowned playback singer Humaira Arshad has voiced strong objections to Fawad Khan’s appointment as a judge on Pakistan Idol Season 2, arguing that individuals without a solid foundation in music should not be placed in such evaluative roles. In an interview with a private news channel, she criticized the recurring trend in Pakistan of choosing celebrities with limited musical expertise as judges for music-based reality shows.

Humaira stressed that judging musical talent requires deep knowledge and experience, and those lacking it should decline such roles. She urged show organizers to prioritize trained musicians and vocalists over celebrity appeal or sponsor-driven choices.

While she acknowledged the star power celebrities bring, she suggested they could participate as guest appearances rather than as permanent judges. She questioned the credibility of judges who might be unable to perform basic vocal techniques, such as singing a taan if asked by a contestant.

Humaira concluded that judging panels should consist of individuals who have dedicated their lives to the craft of music. Meanwhile, Fawad Khan—originally a rock band member with Entity Paradigm and now a celebrated actor—currently judges the show alongside Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Bilal Maqsood, and Zeb Bangash, with the show enjoying growing popularity.
