Actor Hania Amir has once again sparked a wider discussion on women’s autonomy and digital scrutiny after sharing a compelling video from a recent public address.

The clip, posted on her Instagram account, featured excerpts from her speech delivered at the 16 Days of Activism Against Digital Violence event held in Islamabad. In the accompanying caption, Aamir made a strong statement, asserting that women are not meant to exist to satisfy anyone else’s fantasies.

She followed the post with a candid personal reflection, admitting that over time she was made to believe that expressing herself freely was a weakness. The actor shared that she had often been branded as “too loud, too soft, too ambitious, too visible,” and criticised for embodying multiple identities at once.

The video was recorded during an event she attended in December 2025, several months after her appointment as Pakistan’s National Goodwill Ambassador for UN Women. Explaining why the moment held deep meaning for her, Aamir reflected on her younger years and the self-doubt she once experienced.

She recalled believing something was inherently wrong with her for not conforming to the narrow version of womanhood society appeared to accept. Standing on stage, she described feeling a powerful emotional connection to her teenage self, who once struggled with that confusion.

Aamir concluded her reflection by emphasizing that she was never the issue, but rather the restrictive expectations imposed on women. Known for her outspoken presence on digital platforms, the actor has frequently addressed the scrutiny and criticism women, particularly in the entertainment industry, face online.
