ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly (NA) is expected to convene on May 5 to deliberate on India’s aggressive stance and allegations against Pakistan following the recent Pahalgam incident, according to official sources.
India has accused Pakistan of involvement in the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which claimed 26 lives, including several tourists. Islamabad has categorically denied the accusations, citing a lack of evidence and offering facts to counter New Delhi’s claims.
According to sources, a high-level consultative meeting was held at the Parliament House under the chairmanship of the Defence Minister. The meeting was attended by senior officials and ministers from the parliamentary and law ministries.
During the meeting, it was agreed to convene a National Assembly session on May 5. The agenda will include a comprehensive debate on India’s alleged aggression and what Pakistani officials describe as “hostile intentions” in the wake of the Pahalgam attack.
Sources further indicated that a resolution condemning India’s actions is expected to be tabled and passed during the session. The resolution will address India’s recent behavior and its alleged involvement in orchestrating false flag operations to malign Pakistan.
Earlier, the Prime Minister’s Political Advisor, Rana Sanaullah, reiterated Pakistan’s readiness for an impartial investigation into the Pahalgam incident. Speaking on a television programme, Sanaullah accused India of furthering its “nefarious objectives” and refusing to accept Pakistan’s sovereignty.
“We are ready for a neutral inquiry into the Pahalgam incident,” he said, adding that Pakistan would welcome a joint investigation or a third-party expert-led probe to establish the facts.
Sanaullah also warned that India's conduct could destabilize the already fragile regional peace and urged the international community to take note of the escalating tensions.
The upcoming session of the National Assembly is expected to reflect a unified national stance on the issue, as diplomatic and political efforts continue to counter India’s narrative on the international stage.
