KARACHI: Nepra has announced a reduction in electricity tariffs for both Distribution Companies (Discos) and K-Electric (KE) customers as part of its quarterly and monthly adjustment mechanisms.
For the third quarter of FY 2024-25, a reduction of Rs 1.55 per unit has been approved under the Quarterly Tariff Adjustment (QTA) mechanism for all Discos and KE. Additionally, KE consumers will benefit from a Rs 3.64 per unit reduction in February 2025 under the Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) mechanism. Discos consumers will see a Rs 0.29 per unit reduction for March 2025.
The combined relief for KE consumers in May 2025 will amount to Rs 5.19 per unit, while Discos consumers will get Rs 1.82 per unit in their May 2025 bills. Relief for June and July will depend on future FCA data.
The QTA adjustment, totaling Rs 52.603 billion for the third quarter, will be spread over May to July 2025 at a uniform rate of negative Rs 1.5538/kWh for all categories, excluding lifeline and prepaid consumers.
For KE, a provisional negative FCA of Rs 3.6396/kWh has been approved, with further adjustments based on the finalization of the Multi-Year Tariff (MYT) for FY 2024-30. This will apply to all categories except lifeline and certain protected consumers.
Discos will also see a national average reduction of Rs 0.2883/kWh for March 2025 under the FCA, which will be reflected in May 2025 bills. Any early billing adjustments will be made in subsequent cycles
