KARACHI: Some of Pakistan’s leading television and film stars appeared in a special transmission on Thursday to mark the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq, recalling emotional memories from the conflict with India and praising the country’s armed forces for defending the nation.
Actors Adnan Siddiqui, Aijaz Aslam, Bushra Ansari and Resham joined television host Waseem Badami to discuss their experiences during the war and the impact it had on the nation.
Bushra Ansari said she was in Denmark for a fundraising event when she learned about the Indian missile attacks on Pakistan. She described the moment as heartbreaking for overseas Pakistanis, adding that national morale improved after reports emerged of Pakistan’s strong military response.
Resham shared that she was in Pakistan during the attacks and could not sleep throughout the night due to the sounds of explosions and fear in the atmosphere. She said she prayed continuously for the safety of Pakistan, its citizens and the armed forces defending the country. She also paid tribute to soldiers and the mothers willing to sacrifice their children for national security.
Aijaz Aslam said he was deeply concerned about the destruction a war could bring but was proud to witness Pakistan’s military capabilities in action. He said the conflict showed the world the determination and resilience of the Pakistani people.
Adnan Siddiqui, who was in the United States during the conflict, criticized India’s attacks on civilians and mosques. He said targeting innocent children and unarmed civilians could not be considered an act of bravery. Siddiqui also compared the downing of India’s Rafale fighter jets to the sinking of the Titanic, saying many believed it was impossible until it happened.
During the transmission, the celebrities emphasized that war causes immense suffering, including loss of lives, orphaned children and grieving families. However, they also praised the courage, unity and patriotic spirit displayed by Pakistanis throughout Marka-e-Haq.
