SWAT: A tragic bus accident in Swat claimed at least eight lives and left seven others injured after a passenger coach plunged into a deep ravine near the Charbagh Adu area on Sunday. According to Rescue 1122 officials, the vehicle was returning from a wedding ceremony in the popular tourist destination of Malam Jabba when the driver reportedly lost control.
Rescue teams quickly reached the accident site and shifted the victims to Manglor Hospital in Swat. Officials confirmed that women and children were among the injured passengers. Those in critical condition were later transferred to Saidu Central Hospital for advanced treatment.
Authorities said the accident occurred on a mountainous road known for dangerous turns and steep slopes. Initial reports suggest overspeeding and difficult road conditions may have contributed to the deadly crash. Police have started an investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident.
The Swat bus tragedy came hours after another major road accident in Thatta, where a speeding bus carrying picnickers from Karachi to Keenjhar Lake overturned near Chhato Chand, injuring at least 20 people, including women and children.
Eyewitnesses stated that reckless driving caused the bus to lose balance and overturn on the highway. Local residents immediately launched rescue efforts and shifted the injured to Civil Hospital Thatta. Several critically injured passengers were later moved to Karachi in private vehicles due to the reported absence of Rescue 1122 ambulances.
Families of the injured also complained about delays in emergency medical treatment, alleging that patients waited for more than two hours before receiving proper care. A video circulating on social media reportedly showed the bus overturning due to high speed.
Road accidents continue to raise serious concerns across Pakistan, especially during holiday travel and tourist seasons. Authorities have urged drivers to follow traffic rules and avoid overspeeding to prevent further tragedies on highways and mountainous routes.
