KARACHI: A magisterial court on Sunday granted a one-day transit remand of Farhan Ghani, brother of Sindh’s Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani, to police for further investigation.

According to police, Farhan Ghani was arrested along with his associates on charges of assaulting a government official. The suspects were presented before a special magistrate, where investigators sought their transit remand. The court approved the request, with officials confirming that the accused will be produced before the administrative anti-terrorism court on Monday.

Law enforcement sources said the arrests followed a brawl involving the complainant, Sohail, who alleged that he was attacked by Ghani and his companions. A case has been registered at Ferozabad Police Station under anti-terrorism provisions, accusing the group of assaulting a government employee.

Saeed Ghani, responding on social media, acknowledged that the complainant had exercised his legal right by filing an FIR. However, he expressed confidence that his brother and the others accused would establish their innocence during court proceedings.

The incident has drawn attention due to the involvement of a provincial minister’s close family member, with authorities emphasizing that the matter will proceed strictly under the law.
