KARACHI: Eidul Adha is expected to be celebrated in Pakistan on June 7, based on astronomical predictions. According to noted astronomer Dr Faheem Hashmi, there is no possibility of sighting the Zilhajj moon on May 27, as it will be only 11 hours old at sunset — too young to be visible from any location in the country.

Dr Hashmi further stated that the moon is likely to be visible on May 28, as it will then be more than 35 hours old, significantly improving the chances of sighting. If the moon is indeed sighted on May 28, it would mark the beginning of Zilhajj, and Eidul Adha would likely fall on Friday, June 7.

While the final confirmation will come from the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, these calculations provide an early indication for preparations related to the religious festival, which holds deep significance in the Islamic calendar.
