ISLAMABAD: The Power Division has announced a relief of 20 paisa per unit for electricity consumers in June 2026, providing much-needed support to households and businesses amid ongoing concerns over energy prices and utility bills in Pakistan.

According to an official statement, the monthly fuel adjustment for June has been calculated at Rs1.73 per unit, while the quarterly adjustment has been determined at negative Rs1.93 per unit. Since the quarterly adjustment exceeds the monthly increase, consumers will receive a net benefit of 20 paisa per unit on their electricity bills.

The Power Division said electricity rates for June 2026 will remain broadly aligned with the tariff structure maintained from January to May 2026. Officials added that the quarterly adjustment alone is expected to provide relief worth approximately Rs65 billion to electricity consumers across the country.

The statement highlighted that improved electricity demand and reductions in transmission and distribution losses played a key role in generating savings that could be passed on to consumers. In addition, a negative adjustment of Rs46 billion in the expected base tariff has further benefited power users.

Officials also noted that global energy markets faced significant pressure due to tensions between Iran and the United States, causing Brent crude oil price estimates to rise from around $70 to as high as $120 per barrel. Despite these challenges, timely government interventions helped contain the impact on electricity prices.

The Power Division stated that a potential increase of Rs5 to Rs6 per unit in April was restricted to Rs1.73 per unit, preventing an additional burden of nearly Rs38 billion on consumers. Through controlled load management and greater use of local gas and furnace oil, the government maintained stability in electricity prices despite regional and international energy market uncertainties.
