KARACHI: A local court has sentenced a school van driver to 14 years in prison for molesting a minor girl in Karachi.
The Additional District and Sessions Judge (Central) found the accused, Owais Khan, guilty and imposed a fine of Rs1 million. In case of non-payment, the convict will serve an additional three years behind bars.
According to the prosecution, the driver was tasked with transporting the child from school to her home. During these rides, he engaged in immoral acts with the girl. The victim later informed her parents, who reported the matter to the school administration. The driver was subsequently arrested, and the prosecution established the charges with supporting evidence. The case had been registered at Taimuria Police Station.
Separately, the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) reported recovering 10 abducted children in operations across Karachi. The children, ranging in age from 2 to 16 years, were safely returned to their families. Authorities also arrested three suspects for their alleged involvement in child abductions.
In another incident, Karachi Police foiled a kidnapping attempt of a four-year-old boy after swift action by Madadgar-15 and motorcycle squad officers.
