KARACHI: In a major anti-narcotics operation, Karachi police arrested a mother and her son for allegedly running an online drug delivery network and recovered crystal meth, commonly known as ice, during a crackdown in the city.
According to police officials, the arrests were made at the Musharraf Colony checkpoint, where law enforcement personnel intercepted the suspects and seized narcotics from their possession. The accused were identified as Shan Khan and Bushiran Bibi.
Investigators revealed that the mother-son duo allegedly transported drugs from Hub Chowki and supplied them to customers across various areas of Karachi. Authorities believe the suspects were operating a small-scale drug trafficking network that relied on mobile phone communication to receive orders and coordinate deliveries.
The latest Karachi police operation highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat drug trafficking in Karachi and curb the spread of narcotics among residents. Officials said preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects had developed a system for distributing crystal meth and other illegal substances through direct customer contact.
Police records further show that Bushiran Bibi had previously been arrested in multiple criminal cases, raising concerns about her alleged continued involvement in unlawful activities. Authorities are now examining possible links between the suspects and other drug suppliers operating in the region.
The arrests come amid intensified anti-narcotics operations across Karachi. Law enforcement agencies have recently increased surveillance and intelligence-based actions against drug dealers and suppliers as part of a broader campaign to dismantle narcotics networks.
The development follows another significant raid conducted by District East Police in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, where an alleged female drug dealer, Shireen alias Sharina, and her two sons were arrested. According to the Senior Superintendent of Police (East), nearly 35 criminal cases have been registered against the suspect at different police stations. Officials also disclosed that a hand grenade had previously been recovered from her possession during an earlier operation.
Police say investigations are continuing to identify additional suspects and uncover the full extent of the supply chain linked to the latest arrests. Authorities remain committed to eliminating drug trafficking networks and strengthening public safety across Karachi as efforts against narcotics-related crimes continue.
