KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders remain determined to hold a public rally at Mazar-i-Quaid today as part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s four-day visit to Sindh. Despite alleged restrictions, the chief minister is en route to the mausoleum, while the party claims that authorities have blocked key roads to prevent supporters from reaching the venue.

The rally is a key component of PTI’s ongoing street mobilisation campaign, being led by the KP chief minister. CM Afridi arrived in Karachi on Friday and visited Hyderabad and Jamshoro districts on Saturday as part of his political outreach across Sindh.

PTI spokesperson Mohammad Ali Bozdar alleged that police had sealed off several roads across the city, creating hurdles for party workers attempting to reach the originally designated venue at Bagh-i-Jinnah. He claimed that despite prior permission granted by the authorities, access routes were blocked, forcing a shift in arrangements.

According to Bozdar, law enforcement personnel also restricted entry toward the VIP gate of Mazar-i-Quaid, the new location selected for the gathering. He maintained that these measures were aimed at stopping PTI workers from participating in the rally.

The spokesperson confirmed that Chief Minister Afridi would first visit the mausoleum to pay homage to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Following the visit, he is expected to address party supporters from a truck, for which all logistical preparations have been finalized.

PTI leaders insist that the rally will proceed as planned despite the alleged obstacles. The party has reiterated its commitment to peaceful political activity and has urged authorities to facilitate democratic rights by allowing supporters free access to the venue.
