Karachi: The 33rd Senate meeting of NED University was held, where a budget with a deficit of Rs. 2.232 billion was presented. The meeting was chaired by Vice Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Tufail.
The Senate meeting approved the annual audit report for 2023-2024 and reviewed the report for 2024-2025. The budget for 2025-2026 was also presented, which includes an estimated income of Rs. 6.0481 billion and expenditures of Rs. 6.2714 billion, resulting in a deficit of Rs. 2.232 billion.
Dr. Tufail appreciated the Sindh government's support in controlling the deficit. Dean of Electrical Engineering, Dr. Saad Qazi, presented the annual performance report, highlighting the university's achievements, including:
- NED University ranked among the top 600 universities globally in Times Higher Education World Impact Ranking
- The university's programs increased to 117, with 11,589 students enrolled
- 1,930 students received degrees, including 20 PhD scholars
- Scholarships and fellowships worth Rs. 378 million were provided to undergraduate students
- 244 faculty members hold PhD degrees
- 233 research projects worth approximately Rs. 2 billion are ongoing
The university has also established new research centers, organized international conferences, and expanded student mobility programs.
